When the tooth pulp is damaged, it must be extracted. Root canal therapy is the removal of the damaged tooth pulp. The tooth pulp is a tiny, thread-like tissue found in the center of the tooth. There are several causes of tooth pulp decay, including a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, or a severe tooth injury. Following the removal of the dead pulp, the surrounding area is cleaned, defined, and packed. This entire procedure is referred to as a root canal. Previously, a tooth with decayed pulp was extracted directly. This was so painful that patients avoided going to the dentist. Teeth that would have been lost otherwise can now be saved thanks to progressive root canal treatment. It is extremely dangerous if the infected pulp is not treated. It may later convert to pus, which may harm the root tip of the jaw bone. This causes an abscess, which can damage the entire jaw bone.
